Football, a kitten, and 14 dates.

Zhanna Hale

THEN

My father is a legend. Some call me football royalty, and in my hometown of Louisiana, I suppose I am. His legacy didn’t
prepare me for Bryant Hudson. The quarterback. I swore I’d never date football players. Permanently. Yet Bryant had other plans. Three dates and a handful of conversations, I handed him my heart without realizing it. But, Bryant shatters my soul. I’m left picking up the pieces. If only erasing him from my heart was as easy.

Bryant Hudson

NOW

I lost at the only game that matters. And it wasn’t even a game. It was and is my forever with Zhanna. I am the best quarterback out there. That should be enough, right? Achieving my dreams. But none of that matters without my woman beside me. When she left, she took my heart with her. Now I’m back. To remind her of what we had. To see me—the man whose heart she owns, not the quarterback. Our love is fate. Our lives are forever intertwined. I refuse to let a false start signal our end. I’m ready to repeat the play and show Zhanna she is my everything.

I’m not normally a fan of jumping back and forth on timelines, but I really loved how she used it here. I started out actually feeling kinda sorry for Bryant. They were divorced, he was groveling hard, and you feel like maybe she could ease up on him. But as we got to his big betrayal in the earlier timeline, I totally got it. It wasn’t really an aha moment because you knew what he’d done, but you suddenly feel her pain in its entirety. You definitely get all the feels in this one. I really, really hope she writes Zina and Ben at some point! 🤞 I’m dying to know what happened there.

This one is staying with me! This is the first book I have loved that involved cheating from one of the main characters. I think the trick is making sure the readers know immediately that it has happened and Sasha does a great job of letting us know from the beginning. She alternates telling their story as it is happening along with flashbacks so we can see how they fell in love. Had the book been written according to the timeline i would not have been able to enjoy it. My heart hurt for both of them because you could see how deeply it cut her and how much he regrets it. This is one of those books that made me ugly cry for this beautiful couple who has gone through so much. I never thought I would root for any couple to get back together after what he did. Do not miss reading this amazing emotional heartbreaking love story!

I absolutely LOVED this book!! Infidelity is a horrible thing to experience on any level. I usually avoid reading about it in stories, simply because most of the time it's done with evil intent. This is NOT the case in this story. This whole story has so much more in it. Healing, second chances, growth are just a few things you'll find in it. This is definitely worth a re-read plus I want to see more good things for them. Sasha Marshall handles the infidelity in such a way that you feel the growth & healing as well. I hated the situation, but never hated the characters (except Priscilla, naturally😉). That takes real skill as an author to do. Most seek to create hate & monsters. Sasha just showed us all a possibly true reality for some & how healing takes time, but can happen. She created characters that you want to be friends with & help them through this without taking sides. Again, not something easily done. Great job, Sasha!!! This story is worth way more than 5 stars!! ❣️💯
